Mark your calendars now to attend the August 26 meeting of the ALYC Dive and Snorkeling Club. We are very pleased to have a very special presentation this month by the WAVES organization. As a veterans organization, we at the ALYC are very excited to have WAVES show us how they directly support veterans as well. 

WAVES (Wounded American Veterans Experience SCUBA)  provides opportunities for Combat Wounded American Veterans and their families to experience scuba diving. Scuba diving can help wounded warriors by promoting independence and self-confidence in many ways.  WAVES also train divers to be handicap diving partners to disabled vets and Scuba instructors to be a certified Handicapped Scuba Instructor. By doing so, these wounded vets (including everything from PTSD to Quadriplegics) and their dive partners have an opportunity to enjoy the freedom of the underwater experience.

Ron Fonstad and Dave Rubin, founders of WAVES will be on hand to share the invaluable work they do and talk about ways the ALYC Dive and Snorkel Club and WAVES could mutually support each other. 

Everyone, ALYC Dive and Snorkel Club member or not, are welcome and encouraged to attend.
