Ahoy and attention on deck team!

We’ll be gathering on deck at the post at 1630 hours for sustenance and grog, where tales of the deep blue will flow as freely as the drinks. Expect a hearty mix of truth, tall tales, and outright piracy of the facts! This is your golden opportunity to reel in a dive buddy for that weekend voyage to Avalon, uncover the latest escapades of your fellow sailors since last we met, and perhaps even forge a new bond for your next underwater adventure.

By 1830 bells, we’ll expect you to join us in the main hall for a brief council. Here, you'll get the lowdown on the latest opportunities and activities on the horizon that you won't want to miss. We’ve got a beach and bay cleanup charted, a Saturday night social hosted by the crew, and a chance to serve the visually impaired on the water.

And then, team, prepare to be dazzled! We’re honored to welcome a truly legendary figure to the American Legion Yacht Club Dive Team this month—the renowned Paul Dubé! Paul is a Master Instructor from Signature Scuba, one of the finest dive training havens in Southern California. Signature Scuba proudly sponsors "Dive Guardians," a noble 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting veterans, first responders, and those who’ve weathered life’s roughest seas. We count Signature Scuba among our own “Post Family,” and we couldn’t be prouder.

Since his maiden dive in 1994, Paul has become a true captain of the underwater realm. With a PADI Master Instructor rank and an SDI Instructor Trainer certification, Paul has logged over 8,000 dives and 5,500 hours beneath the waves. His expertise is the stuff of legend, and his zeal for SCUBA is as contagious as a sailor’s laughter. Paul is more than just an instructor—he’s an ambassador of the ocean, tirelessly sharing his love for the deep with all who’ll listen. Whether charting the depths of shipwrecks or perfecting buoyancy, Paul’s passion shines like a lighthouse on a foggy night.

As Paul himself says, “I truly enjoy teaching and sharing my passion for SCUBA, and I hope to be able to continue sharing this adventure for a long time to come.”

So, hoist a tank and join us in celebrating a man who’s as much a part of the ocean as the waves themselves—Paul Dubé!

And for all you mermaids setting sail for Cozumel in October, this will be one of two final chances to come together before you weigh anchor. Come aboard and connect with your fellow travelers, plot your course, and perhaps even arrange some carpooling to the airport.

Until we gather on August 28th, may the winds be ever in your favor and the seas smooth beneath your keel, mates.

BRING A VETERAN, BRING A FRIEND!
