Bridge Officers / Board of Directors Meeting
Members welcome to attend.
I have heard from many members that they are either not interested in, or tired of, visiting Dana Point and Alamitos Bay for our cruises. Therefore, we are headed to the beautiful island of Catalina for our August Cruise.
Sail or motor over on Friday, August 4th and pick up a mooring or anchor in Two Harbors and spend 3 days with old ALYC friends or, better yet, make some new ones!
Friday night we'll pot-luck or meet for a group dinner at the Harbor Reef Restaurant. (I will poll those who register and will confirm which option we decide a few days prior to departure so everyone has time to provision accordingly).
Saturday afternoon details will be announced, but there are plenty of activities including hiking and the new Harbor Sands beach area. If we have enough people interested, we may even organize a Frisbee Golf Tournament! And of course, there will probably be a group going for a dive/snorkel outing.
Saturday Evening we will all meet-up for dinner, drinks and fun at the Harbor Reef Restaurant.

In 1990, Bonnie Gibson and Bobbie Reed took 15 blind people sailing on a 40-foot sailboat. Each year, they took more people out and enlisted more skippers to assist. Now, although Bonnie and Bobbie are still actively involved in the event, it has grown so large that it is sponsored by the Women's Sailing Association - Orange County (WSA-OC) and hosted by the American Legion Yacht Club and Post 291 Family.
Now, each year, over 240 blind or visually impaired individuals and their escorts spend a day sailing with volunteers from both WSA-OC and the American Legion Yacht Club.
Approximately 45 skippers and boats from the community are needed to participate in this worthwhile event. Over 150 volunteers are needed to act as escorts, servers, crew, guide dog sitters and more. If you would like to be of assistance or you would like to donate items for the fund-raising drawing or service dog gift bags, please send us an email message. We are sure that you will enjoy this very special event.
